Product Description

Hydroquinone (chemical formula: C6H4(OH)2), also known as hydroquinone , is a compound formed by replacing two para-hydrogens of benzene with hydroxyl groups.
Hydroquinone is white needle crystal, flammable, soluble in hot water, ether and ethanol, slightly soluble in benzene. It has reducibility. After mild oxidation, brown p-benzoquinone (C6H4O2) is obtained, and p-benzoquinone is reduced to obtain hydroquinone. The p-benzoquinone-hydroquinone redox couple exists in many biomolecules, such as coenzyme Q.
The phenolic hydroxyl hydrogen of hydroquinone is weakly acidic and can lose one or two protons to form the corresponding phenate anion. Mainly used as reducing agent, developer (reducing silver halide to silver), polymerization inhibitor of monomer (acrylic acid, methyl methacrylate), and skin whitening agent. Hydroquinone ether is the raw material in the production of dyes and fragrances.

Usage: 
1.Hydroquinone is mainly used as a photographic developer.
2.Hydroquinone and its alkylate are widely used as polymerization inhibitors in monomer storage and transportation, and the concentration is usually about 200ppm.
3.Hydroquinone monomethyl ether is an intermediate of edible oil antioxidant BHA; hydroquinone dimethyl ether is an intermediate of dyes, organic pigments and perfumes; hydroquinone diethyl ether is an intermediate of photosensitive pigments and dyes .
4.Hydroquinone is also used in the preparation of N, N'-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine, which is an antioxidant and anti-odor agent for rubber and gasoline.
5.Photometric determination of phosphorus, magnesium, niobium, copper, silicon and arsenic. Polarographic and volumetric determination of iridium. Reducing agent of heteropoly acid, reducing agent of copper and gold.
6.In the field of water treatment, adding hydroquinone to the hot water and cooling water of the closed-circuit heating and cooling system can inhibit corrosion of the metal on the water side. Hydroquinone is used as a deoxidizer for boiler water, and hydroquinone is added to it when the boiler water is preheated and deoxygenated to remove residual dissolved oxygen.
