Chemical Name: 2-[4,5-dihydro-4-methyl-4-(1-methylethyl)-5-oxo-1H-imidazol- 2-yl]-5-ethyl-3- pyridinecarboxylic acid.

Appearance: Slight yellow to brown powder.
Melting Point: 169-173°C.
Vapour Pressure: 0.01m Pa at 20°C.
Stability: Solubility in water 1.4mg/L, 45, in acetone 48.2 g/L, 105g/l in methanol; slightly soluble in toluene about 5g/l, 17 g/l in isopropanol , 0.9 g/l in heptanc,very slightly soluble in heptane.
Application
It is an imidazole compound used as a selective herbicide. It is applied preplant incorporated, preemergence, at cracking, and postemergence. The compound controls weeds by reducing the levels of three branched-chain aliphatic amino acids, isoleucine, leucine and valine, through the inhibition of aceto-hydroxyacid synthase, an enzyme common to the biosynthetic pathway for these amino acids.
