 Isophorone, also known as "1,1,3-trimethylcyclohexene ketone", scientific name 3,5,5-trimethyl-2 -cyclohexen-1-one, is a six membered ring α,β- Unsaturated ketone, chemical formula C9H14O, is a colorless to yellow volatile liquid with characteristic smell (camphor/mint flavor). It is naturally found in cranberries. It is insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol, ether, aceton e and other organic solvents. See the conversion of light into dimers. It is oxidized to 4,4,6-trimethyl-1,2-cyclohexanedione in air.
