Aluminum Sulfate Uses
 
1. Solidifying agent (for removing impurities such as oil, water, etc.), stabilizer for albumin pasteurization (including liquid or frozen whole egg, egg white or egg yolk). The maximum allowable dosage (FAO/WHO, 1984) is 0.036%. It is used in papermaking, water purification, and as mordant, leather tanning agent, medical astringent, wood preservative, foam fire extinguishing agent, etc. It is used in the production of artificial gemstones and high-grade ammonium alum. Analytical reagents, mordant, water repellent, grease decolorizer.
 
2. After dissolving in water, it can make the fine particles and natural colloidal particles in the water agglomerate into large flocs, which can be removed from the water, so it is used as a coagulant for water supply and wastewater. In the paper industry, it is used as a paper sizing agent to enhance the water resistance and impermeability of paper. In the chemical industry, it is often used as a raw material for other aluminates. For example, K2SO4 is added to aluminum sulfate solution, and KAl(SO4)2 with a small solubility product is precipitated from the solution in the form of large crystals. Used in the wood industry as a preservative. In the fuel industry, it is used as a precipitant in the production of chrome yellow and lake dyes, and also acts as a fixing and filler. In the fire fighting industry, it is combined with baking soda and foaming agent to form a foam fire extinguishing agent. Tanning industry used as a tanning agent. The printing and dyeing industry is used as a mordant. In addition, it is also used as a clarifying agent in the oil and fat industry, a deodorant and decolorizing agent in the petroleum industry, and an astringent in the pharmaceutical industry.
 
3. Used as turbid water purification agent, also used as precipitating agent, color fixing agent, filler, etc. Used as an antiperspirant cosmetic raw material (astringent) in cosmetics.
