Terazosin hydrochloride is a long-acting selective alpha1 receptor blocker and a derivative of quinazoline. It relieves the difficulty in urination due to smooth muscle tone in prostate enlargement by decreasing the smooth muscle tone at the bladder outlet site. Terazosin hydrochloride has a hypotensive effect while maintaining normal cardiac output. It can improve the metabolic disorders of blood lipids, blood sugar, blood uric acid and other substances and male sexual dysfunction.

1. Terazosin hydrochloride has been used for orthogonality and similarity analysis using reversed-phase chromatographic studies. Furthermore, terazosin has also been used for the evaluation of chemometric techniques to determine orthogonality and similarity in chromatographic methods.
2. Terazosin hydrochloride is used to treat the symptoms of enlarged prostate. It exerts its effect by inhibiting the action of adrena line in the smooth muscle of the bladder and in the walls of blood vessels.
