Nervonic acid is a monounsaturated analog of lignoceric acid. Nervonic acid is also known as selacholeic acid and cis-15-tetracosenoic acid. Nervonic acid is an essential nutrient for the growth and maintenance of the brain.Nervonic acid consists of choline, sphingosine,phos phor ic ac id, and fatty acid. Nervonic acid may enhance the brain functions and prevent demyelination.
