The application of washing powder
Decontamination test showed that LAS and AOS showed good synergistic effect in phosphorus-containing powder and phosphorus-free powder. The synergistic effect of LAS: AOS was most significant at 8:2 in phosphorus-containing laundry powders. In the phosphorus-free laundry detergent with LAS and AOS as anionic active components, the decontamination is significantly improved when the ratio of anionic active components of AOS is greater than 20%. The synergistic effect of AOS on decontamination in phosphorus-free detergent is more prominent than that in phosphorus-containing detergent.

Application of soap
Soap produces insoluble soap scale in hard water, which affects the decontamination effect. The addition of AOS can improve the solubility of soap in water, and the wetting and foaming force of soap at low temperature also increase rapidly. When AOS is added to soaps with fatty acid sodium as the main component, various characteristics of soaps are improved, such as foaming strength, hard water resistance, flexibility and cracking resistance.

Liquid detergent Application
Due to the high irritability of LAS, many washing products no longer use LAS as the active component, while AOS is a suitable substitute with low irritability and good biodegradability. In liquid detergents, AOS has a great influence on the viscosity of the product. The effect of improving the viscosity with ordinary fatty alcohol diethanolamide and Na-Cl is not very ideal. The effect of fatty alcohol monoglythanolamide, oxidized amine, betaine and NH4Cl can play a good role in viscosity increasing. AOS is widely used in liquid detergents with high active components because of its features in decontamination, resistance to hard water and viscosity.

Personal care products application
AOS is AS mild as AES, while LAS and AS are much more irritating than AOS. Thus, AOS is widely used in personal care products. AOS is extremely stable under acidic conditions. Normal people's skin is weakly acidic (pH value is about 5.5), which is suitable for using AOS as a component of personal washing products. The hair shampoo with AOS as the main active component has better foaming properties than that with K12. Rinso reports that the foam released by AOS is plump and creamy, with a soap-like feel when washed. This feature suits Chinese washing habits. So AOS can be used in personal care products like baths, hand sanitizers and cleansers.

Other Applications
AOS is widely used in textile printing and dyeing industry, petroleum chemicals, tertiary oil recovery, industrial cleaning and so on. AOS can be used as concrete density improver, foam wall board, fire foam agent. It can also be used as pesticide emulsifier and wetting agent.
