2. Fatty acids obtained from tall oil. The dross from Kraft Pulping of coniferous trees is a mixture of rosin acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid, which is called tall oil. The fatty acid of tall oil obtained from tall oil fractionation contains 6% ~ 8% rosin acid, which is the raw material of soap making. High quality tall oil fatty acids with less than 2% resin acids can be obtained by further fractionation, which can be used to produce dimer fatty acids and other products.
