Sodium dihydrogen phosphate CAS 89140-32-9


Sodium dihydrogen phosphate is used in food industry as quality improver, pH regulator, buffer, emulsifying and dispersing agent, nutrient supplement and water retention agent.  Mainly used in cheese, beverage, jelly, tomato sauce, luncheon meat and meat salted products, and can be used as modified starch additive.  The amount added in food processing is 3-5%.  

Density 1.949 /cm. Melting point 60ºC. There are anhydrous substances, monohydrous substances and dihydrous substances. Anhydrous substance is white crystalline powder, slightly hygroscopic, easily soluble in water. Anhydrous matter system colorless rhombic crystal system, easily soluble in water, aqueous solution is acidic reaction (PH=4.5), insoluble in alcohol.The diaqueous substance is also easily soluble in water and easy to caking in humid air. At 100ºC, it is dehydrated into anhydrous substance, at 190-210ºC, sodium pyrophosphate is generated, and at 280-300ºC, it is decomposed into sodium metaphosphate. All aqueous solutions are acidic. At present as a product to the two water substance.

Sodium dihydrogen phosphate is the raw material for the manufacture of sodium hempetaphosphate and sodium pyrophosphate. It is mainly used in leather making, boiler water treatment, as quality conditioner and baking powder, as buffer and baking powder raw material in food industry and fermentation industry, and also used as feed additive, detergent and dyeing agent.
