Propylene Oxide is a synthetic, highly-flammable, volatile, colorless liquid that is soluble in  water  and miscible with many organic solvents. Propylene oxide is used primarily as a chemical intermediate in the production of polyethers and  propylene glycol . It is also used as a pesticide and a fumigant for the sterilization of packaged foods and plastic medical instruments. 

1.   Propylene Oxide is  used as wetting agent, emulsifier, fungicide, plasticizer, descaling agent and surfactant;
2. Used for the preparation of propylene glycol, propanaldehyde, isopropanolamine, synthetic glycerol, organic acid ester, etc.
3. Used for manufacturing polyurethane foam plastics and polyethers.
4. Important raw materials of organic synthesis, used for the manufacture of propylene glycol, propylene alcohol, propanal, synthetic glycerol, organic acid, synthetic resin, foam, plasticizer, surfactant, emulsifier, wetting agent, detergent, fungicide, fumigant, etc.
5. It can be used as solvent of cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate and resin.
6. Propylene oxide reacts with ammonia to produce isopropyl alcohol amine (monoisopropyl alcohol amine, double isopropyl alcohol amine, triisopropyl alcohol amine), isopropyl alcohol amine is alkaline, can absorb acid gas, widely used in gas purification, such as desulfurization and carbon dioxide removal in synthetic ammonia industry.
