Performance and Application
The function of ethyl hexyl salicylate is to increase the protective band against ultraviolet rays. It also stabilizes another chemical sunscreen ingredient, Avobenzone, so it lasts longer. Ethyl hexyl salicylate can also be used as ultraviolet absorbent, used to prevent ultraviolet on skin tanning, sunburn effect.
2-Ethylhexyl salicylate has a conjugated π bond, which can absorb ultraviolet rays and convert the energy of ultraviolet rays into heat to release so as to achieve the purpose of sunscreen. Octyl salicylate can absorb ultraviolet rays at 280-300nm and is used as UVB absorber in sunscreen makeup
