Objective

To improv e ph ysical and chemical pro perties of 2, 2-dimethylthia zolidine hydro ch lo ride ( DM TD) and enhance the antir adiatio n effect.

Methods

Various organic salts of 2, 2-dimethy lthia zolidine and cystamine were synthesized. The drug was a dministered to mice before 9. 03 Gy 60 Co gam ma-ray whole body irr adiation for evaluation of radio protective effects.

Results

Most of these com pounds showed significant radio protective effects. Among them, DMTD t rt rate 250mg /kg given i. p. 1  hour before irradiation increased the survival rate by 40% . Cystamine succinate 250mg /kg administer ed i, p. 15 min. before irradiation increased the survival rate by 77. 5% .

Conclusion

Cystamine succinate show ed ma rked a ntiradia tio n effect. Further investigation is worthwhile.
