5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine nucleoside, also known as decitabine and 5-aza-2′-deoxycytidine, is a natural adenosine analogue of 2′-deoxycytidine, which inhibits tumor cell proliferation as well as prevents the development of drug resistance by inhibiting DNA methyltransferase and reducing DNA methylation, and is the strongest known specific inhibitor of DNA methylation, belongs to S-phase cell cycle specific drugs, and is indicated for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS for short).
