CIS butenedioic anhydride, also known as maleic anhydride or dehydrated malic anhydride, is
an organic compound. The molecular formula is c4h2o3 and the molecular weight is 98.06. It
is mainly prepared by the oxidation of n-butane or butene in benzene or C4 fraction. The solid
maleic anhydride is white flake live granular crystal, easy to sublimate, soluble in alcohol, ether
and acetone, with a relative density of 1.48 (20 ºC solid) or 1.30 (70 ºC liquid), and a boiling
point of 202 ºC. It is easy to deliquesce in water to form maleic acid.

1.Used to produce polyester resin, alkyd resin, medicine and pesticide.
2. Used as ink additives, paper additives, coatings and pharmaceutical industry, food industry, etc.
