Tetrachloroethylene  /  tetrachloroethene  /  perchloroethylene / PCE  is a  chlorocarbon.  It is a colorless liquid. It's  insoluble in water, it can be miscible soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and other most organic solvents, mainly used as organic solvents, dry cleaning agent, can also be used for adhesive solvent, metal degreasing solvent, desiccant, paint remover, insect repellent, fat extraction agent, can also be used for organic synthesis.

Tetrachloroethylene  is an excellent  solvent  for  organic  materials.  It is widely used in  dry cleaning  due to its ability to dissolve grease, wax, and oils without harming fabrics.  It is also used to degrease metal parts in the  automotive  and other metalworking industries, usually as a mixture with other chlorocarbons. It appears in a few consumer products including  paint strippers  and spot removers. It is also used in aerosol preparations.
