Chlorogenic acid, also known as "chlorogenic acid", "coffee tannic acid" and "coffee tannic acid", is a phenylpropanoid compound produced by shikimic acid pathway in the process of aerobic respiration in plants. It is a cafeoyl quinic acid derivative with strong antioxidant ability.  It also has the functions of anti-HIV, anti-tumor cells, antibacterial, improving central excitation, gallbladder, anti-teratogenic, anti-allergy and regulating the activity of cytochrome P450 ligase.
