Tetrahydro thiophen (THT), an organic compound, is an important sulfur-containing saturated heterocyclic compound, the molecular formula is C4H8S, the relative molecular mass is 88.4, the melting point is -96.2 °C, the boiling point is 119°C, and the flash point is 12.8 °C, which is flammable. It is mainly used as odorant for fuel gases such as city gas, petroleum liquefied gas and natural liquefied gas, and can also be used as raw materials for medicine and pesticides.
Tetrahydro thiophen (THT) is colorless, transparent, volatile liquid, insoluble in water, can be miscible in ethanol, ether, benzene.

Tetrahydrothiophen THT  chemical properties are stable, not easy to be oxidized by air, gas equipment, transportation pipeline gasket and other materials are not corrosive, the human smell will not produce habit passivation, so used as city gas, naturalgas and other gas fuel leakage warning agent, is added to the gas fuel in a small amount, replacing the original use of ethylmercaptan odor agent. In addition, Tetrahydro thiophen (THT) can also synthesize a variety of new pharmaceutical, pesticide and polymer synthetic material additives intermediates, used as solvents, chain transfer inhibitors, modifiers, catalysts, petroleum model compounds and lithium battery dielectrics.

use
It is mainly used as odorant for fuel gases such as city gas, petroleum liquefied gas and natural liquefied gas, and can also be used as raw materials for medicine and pesticides.
Storage method
Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 37ºC. Keep the container sealed. Should be stored separately from oxidizer, do not mix storage. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities are adopted. Do not use mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to spark. The storage area should be equipped with leak emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.
First aid measure
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse skin thoroughly with soap and water.
Eye contact: Lift eyelids and rinse with running water or saline. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Quickly remove from the scene to fresh air. Keep your airway clear. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink enough warm water to induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Fire protection measures
Dangerous characteristics: In case of high heat, open flame and strong oxidant easy to cause combustion.
Harmful combustion products: carbonmonoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur oxide.
Fire suppression method: Spray water to cool the container and move the container from the fire to an open area if possible. Foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder, sand.
Leakage emergency treatment
Quickly evacuate the personnel from the contaminated area to the safety zone, isolate them, and strictly restrict access. Cut off the fire. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and wear protective clothing. Cut off the source of leakage as much as possible. Prevent flowing into sewers, flood drains and other restricted Spaces.
Small amount of leakage: absorption with activated carbon or other inert materials. It is also possible to scrub with an emulsion made of a non-combustible dispersant, which is diluted and placed in the wastewater system.
Large leakage: build a embankment or dig a pit to contain it. Cover with foam to reduce steam hazards. Transfer to a tank truck or special collector with an explosion-proof pump for recycling or transport to a waste disposal site.
Protective measure
Engineering control: closed operation, local exhaust. Safety shower and eye washing facilities are available.
Respiratory system protection: When the concentration in the air is high, it is recommended to wear a self-priming filter gas mask (half mask).
Eye protection: Wear safety glasses.
Body protection: Wear protective work clothes.
Hand protection: Wear rubber oil-resistant gloves.
Other protection: Smoking is strictly prohibited in the work site. After work, shower and change clothes. Pay attention to personal hygiene.
Operational handling and storage
Operation precautions: closed operation, local exhaust. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear a self-priming filter gas mask (half mask), safety glasses, protective work clothes, and rubber oil-resistant gloves. Keep away from fire and heat. No smoking in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevents steam from leaking into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants. When filling, the flow rate should be controlled, and there is a grounding device to prevent static accumulation. When handling, light loading and unloading should be done to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with the corresponding variety and quantity of fire equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may have harmful residues.
Storage precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The temperature of the reservoir should not exceed 30ºC.
Transport precautions: Transport vehicles should be equipped with the appropriate variety and quantity of fire equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. It is best to transport early and early in summer. The tank (tank) car used in transportation should have a grounding chain, and a hole partition can be provided in the tank to reduce static electricity generated by shock. It is strictly prohibited to mix with oxidizers. During transportation, it should be protected from sunlight, rain and high temperature. Stay away from fire, heat source and high temperature area during stopover. The exhaust pipe of the vehicle carrying the article must be equipped with a fire retardant device, and the loading and unloading of mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks is prohibited. Road transport should follow the prescribed route, do not stay in residential areas and densely populated areas. It is forbidden to slip them in railway transportation. It is strictly prohibited to use wooden or cement ships for bulk transport.

OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR TETRAHYDRO THIOPHEN THT FILLING
Filling operation procedures

1,Confirm the site safety conditions, Tetrahydro thiophen (THT) tank acceptance conditions.

2,Nitrogen gas bottle nitrogen is used to blow nitrogen to lines 1and 2 in the schematic diagram.

3,Install pipeline 1 and pipeline 2 with thread cover / ton tank to ensure no air leakage.

4,Close the filing valve, slightly open the filling valve, and focus on the nitrogen bottleZ pressure gauge pressure filling to0.03Mpa-0.04Mpa(or 30-40 Kpa).
5,When the pressure is reached, close the filling valve and slowly open the filling valve.
6,Close the filling valve with the pressure below 0.01 Mpa (10 Kpa) and recharge the pressure valve. Repeat the operation in turn until the filling is complete.
7,When the filling level is low, the filling pressure is 0.02-0.03Mpa, and the frequency of filing is increased

8,Close the filling valve and filling valve. After removing the pipeline, seal the pipeline interface with a plug

matters need attention

1,Fireworks and the use of mobile phones are strictly prohibited for on-site operation.
2,During the filling process of the packaging bucket, pay close attention to the shape change of the packaging bucket. f2there is deformation, immediately stop the pressure filling, close the flling valve, and slightly open the filing valve to relievethe pressure.

3,When the liquid level is low in the late filing stage, the filling pressure should be strictly controlled for not exceeding 0.063Mpa to prevent the serial pressure to the Tetrahydro thiophen (THT) storage tank.

4,The filling interval is at least 10 seconds to ensure that the pressure in the packaging bucket is stable.
5,The filling personnel must hold the R1 pressure vessel operation certificate.
6,Strictly implement the filling pressure without filling, filling pressure without filling pressure.
