310S is an AOD melted austenitic stainless steel with high chromium and nickel content. This alloy has excellent resistance to oxidation at high temperatures making it suitable for furnace rails and dunnage. This grade is used often in carburizing atmospheres that are common in petrochemical industries.
The higher alloyed stainless steels generally have excellent strength at elevated temperatures along with outstanding resistance to creep deformation and environmental attack. Therefore, stainless 310s is used widely in industries such as heat treatment and chemical processing. Some examples include:
