Ethylene glycol tertiary butyl ether (ETB) is a kind of low photochemical reactivity of ethylene glycol butyl ether replacing solvent, it has very low odor, low toxicity, low photochemical reactivity, irritating to the skin mild, good intermiscibility with water, the latex paint dispersion stability is good, with the majority of resin, organic solvents miscibility, and good hydrophilicity, can be widely used in paint, ink, cleaning agent, Fiber wetting agent, plasticizer, organic synthetic intermediates, paint remover and many other fields. Water dispersible coatings made of this solvent have good storage stability, especially in winter at low temperatures.

 

Specification

1 water system paint solvent
It is mainly used as a solvent for water-based system and latex water-dispersed coating in coating industry. Because the HLB value of ETB is close to 9.0, it plays the role of dispersant, emulsifier, rheological agent and co-solvent in the dispersion system. It has good performance on latex paint, colloidal dispersion paint and dissolved aqueous resin paint in water-based coatings, and is used in the fields of interior and exterior coatings of buildings, automotive primers, color tinplate and so on.

2 Paint solvent
2.1 As dispersant. When producing super black amino paint and super black acrylic paint,it usually takes a lot of time to grind high-pigment carbon black to reach certain fineness,while using ETB soaked high-pigment carbon black, ITS grinding time can be shortened by more than half, and the paint appearance after coating is more smooth and smooth.

2.2 As leveling agent and defoaming agent, improve the drying speed, smoothness, gloss, adhesion fastness of water-dispersed coatings. Due to its tert-butyl structure, it has high photochemical stability and security, and can eliminate pinholes, small particles and bubbles in the film. Water dispersible coating made of ETB has good storage stability, especially at low temperature in winter.

2.3 Improve gloss. ETB used in amino paint, nitor paint, can prevent the production of "orange peel" like markings, paint film gloss increased by 2% ~ 6%.

3 ink dispersant
Using ETB as solvent inks, or as a dilution dispersant used in printing inks, can greatly improve the rheology of ink, improve the quality of high-speed printing, gloss, adhesion.

4 and dyeing
The modified silicone oil with ETB as solvent is smooth and soft when used in textile finishing, and it greatly reduces irritation to skin.

5. Fiber extractant
Alied-Signal, an American company, extracts polyethylene fibers containing 76% mineral oil with ETB, which reduces the mineral oil content by 0.15%.

6 titanium oxide phthalocyanine dye
By adding Ti (OBu) 4 to the ETB solution of 1, 3-diamino-isodihydroindole and stirring at 130ºC for 3h, Canon company of Japan prepared 87% pure titanium oxide phthalocyanine dye. The crystalline titanophthalocyanine, which is made of porous titanophthalocyanine and ETB, can be used as photographic photosensitizers with high sensitivity to long wave light.

7. High efficiency household cleaner
Asahi Electric Co., LTD. (Japan) reacted propy lene oxide with KOH containing ETB to obtain polyoxypropane monobutyl ether, which is an ideal and efficient household cleaner.

8 Corrosion resistant hydrosol paint
Japanese paint company with dimethyl ether, acrylic resin, ETB, butanol, TiO2, cyclohexyl carbonic acid amine, defoamer to make a spray corrosion resistant hydrosol paint.

Carbon film resistors for radio elements
The carbon film resistor using ETB as resistance liquid has a smooth surface, which can eliminate the undesirable phenomenon of pinhole and thick edge, and improve the performance of electrical components.

10 Fuel additives
ETB can be used as a cosolvent and amendment for new boiler fuel, which not only improves combustion efficiency, but also reduces emissions. As a new energy source for boilers and large Marine diesel engines, ETB has advantages in terms of rigid demand for environmental protection and policy dividends.
