Epichlorohydrin/ECH is an organic compound with the chemical formula c3h5clo. ECH is a colorless liquid with an odor similar to chloroform. It is an important raw material and intermediate for organic synthesis.
Epichlorohydrin/ECH  can be used to produce epoxy resin and as diluent of epoxy resin. It is also used to manufacture glycerin, nitroglycerin explosives, glass fiber reinforced plastics, glyceryl methacrylate, chlorohydrin rubber, glycidyl derivatives, surfactants, electrical insulation products, etc. It is also a common raw material for manufacturing a variety of adhesives, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, plasticizers and ion exchange resins. As well as solvents for adhesives, coatings, paints, Rubbers, resins, cellulose esters and cellulose ethers. It is toxic, belonging to medium toxicity. Animal experiments have proved that it has potential carcinogenic effect. Long term exposure should be avoided. 

Epichlorohydrin is a versatile precursor in the synthesis of many organic compounds. For example, it is converted to glycidyl nitrate, an energetic binder used in explosive and propellant compositions. The epichlorohydrin is reacted with an alkali nitrate, such as sodium nitrate, producing glycidyl nitrate and alkali chloride. It is used as a solvent for cellulose, resins, and paints, and it has found use as an insect fumigant.

Polymers made from epichlorohydrin, e.g., polyamide-epichlorohydrin resins, are used in paper reinforcement and in the food industry to manufacture tea bags, coffee filters, and sausage/salami casings as well as with water purification.

An important biochemical application of epichlorohydrin is its use as crosslinking agent for the production of Sephadex size-exclusion chromatographic resins from dextrans.

3. It is a common raw material for the manufacture of adhesives, medicines, pesticides, plasticizers and ion exchange resins. 
4. Used as adhesives, coatings, paints, rubber, resins, cellulose ester and cellulose ether solvents.
