Application

- Epilepsy: Carbamazepine is one of the most commonly used antiepileptic drugs. It is prescribed to control and prevent seizures in various types of epilepsy, including focal seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures.

- Trigeminal neuralgia: Carbamazepine is also effective in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, a condition characterized by severe facial pain that affects the trigeminal nerve.

- Bipolar disorder: Carbamazepine is used as a mood stabilizer in the treatment of bipolar disorder. It helps in managing manic and depressive episodes and reduces the frequency and severity of mood swings.

- Neuropathic pain: In certain cases, Carbamazepine is prescribed to manage neuropathic pain, a type of chronic pain caused by nerve damage or dysfunction.

- Alcohol withdrawal syndrome: Carbamazepine can be used to alleviate symptoms associated with alcohol withdrawal syndrome, such as seizures and agitation.

- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): In some instances, Carbamazepine may be used as an off-label treatment for ADHD when other medications are ineffective or not suitable.

- Other off-label uses: Carbamazepine has been used in off-label applications for conditions such as schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), although evidence for its efficacy in these cases is limited.
