What is Pyridoxal Phosphate  ?

Pyridoxal phosphate is an organic compound, C8H10NO6P, formed by the combination of vitamin B6 , including pyridoxal, pyridoxine, and pyridoxine, which exists in the body as phosphate esters. Pyridoxal phosphate and pyridoxine phosphate can be transformed into each other, both are active type. Pyridoxal phosphate is the active form of vitamin B6. Several reactions catalyzed by pyridoxal phosphate include transamination, α-decarboxylation, β-decarboxylation, β-elimination, γ-elimination, racemization, and aldoxal reactions.

Fuction of   Pyridoxal Phosphate

Pyridoxal phosphate is an important substance in pyridoxal. It is not only a coenzyme of aminotransferase and decarboxylase
in amino acid metabolism, but also can promote the decarboxylation of glutamic acid and improve the generation of gamma-
aminobutyric acid. Pyridoxal phosphate is also widely used in the synthesis of β-carbonyl amide drugs, biological activity research
and other fields. For example, it is mainly used in the clinical treatment of Parkinson's syndrome, promoting the transamination
of aminotransferase and improving the content of dopamine in the body.
