Function and Application of Pyridoxal-5-phosphate CAS 54-47-7
1. Pyridoxal phosphate is the coenzyme form of vitamin B6. In the catalytic reaction, the aldehyde group in the pyridoxal phosphate molecule combines with the amino group of the α-amino acid to form an aldimine, also known as Schiffbase, which then transaminates, decarboxylates or decyclises the amino acid depending on the properties of the enzyme protein. As a coenzyme of amino acid aminotransferases, decarboxylases and racemases, it plays an important role in amino acid metabolism.
2.  Pyridoxal phosphate is t he main drug of vitamin B6 is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic eczema, dermatitis, urticaria, pustular rash, scratchy itch, seborrheic eczema, scaly rash, drug rash, orchitis, stomatitis, tongue inflammation, pregnancy reactions, asthma, etc. The product is practically non-toxic with an oral LD50 of 6g/kg in rats.
