Volatile, its gas does not burn, and does not explode when mixed with air, can be miscible with ethanol, ether and dimethyl formamide, soluble in water. Relative density (D204)1.3255. Freezing point -95, boiling point 39.75, refractive index (N20D)1.4244, low toxicity, median lethal dose (rats, oral) 2524mg/kg. High concentrations of steam are narcotic and irritating.
