Function:
1.  Econazole nitrate is an antifungal agent of the imidazole type used in topical and vaginal preparations to prevent growth of dermatophytes, yeast, and mold.
2. Econazole nitrate is a pyrrole antifungal agent, a dechlorinated derivative of , which has antibacterial activity against Candida, Stachybotrys, Coccidioides, Histoplasma and Sporotrichum, as well as against Trichophyton. Econazole nitrate products are commonly available in the form of Econazole nitrate ointment, Econazole nitrate suppository, Econazole nitrate spray and Econazole nitrate solution. However, Econazole nitrate is effective in the treatment of gynaecological diseases such as mycobacteria and Candida vaginitis, although the efficacy is significant.
